How to Straighten Teeth Naturally

Dr. Sumaiya Khan
There are many ways to straighten teeth naturally. When we say naturally, we are implying ways of getting the teeth aligned without making use of conventional metal braces.
Teeth are among the most vital features of the face. A person's genuine smile is said to be good enough to light up an entire room. However, many of us tend to be cowering from smiling a complete molar to molar smile. The reason? Apart from the stains and tooth decay, one of the main problems that we face is misaligned teeth!
Teeth that are not in proper positions in the dental arch, are not a pretty sight. So, many people prefer to look for ways to straighten teeth naturally, which involve options besides the usual ghastly, metal, orthodontic braces. So, given here are some options, that are aesthetic in nature. They will also spare you from the nickname 'metal mouth'.

Invisalign Braces

The new buzzword in orthodontic circles, invisalign is a treatment option where clear plastic aligners are placed on the teeth. These arch-shaped aligners are just a little tighter than the actual position of teeth. This results in a mild but constant force acting on the teeth, which will move gradually, thereby straightening themselves naturally.
Invisalign is a great option for people who have only a slight malocclusion, with no severe crowding. Many invisalign reviews are positive about the cost involved. If you compare the costs of invisalign and braces, the latter outdoes the former. But, speak with your orthodontist before going in for this treatment to see if you are eligible for it or not.

Smile Designing

Another option is cosmetic dentistry for treatments such as smile designing. When people have minor crossbites, which make the upper and lower teeth have an edge to edge bite, they can opt for smile designing treatment.
Here, the teeth are worked on, a group of front teeth are reduced and crown preparation is done on them. When the crown preparation is complete, an entire bridge is fitted on the front teeth so that they appear to be in a straight line.
Some people have porcelain veneer facings fitted instead of going in for complete dental crowns. This will of course depend on the preference and economic condition of the patient, and alignment of teeth in the dental arch. This is really a great way to straighten teeth without braces.
People with very bad dental crowding can opt for lingual orthodontics, wherein, the metal braces are fitted on the lingual side of the arch, that is, behind the visible surface of teeth.
All the given procedures do manage to do away with conventional metal braces, but none of these can straighten teeth at home. For that, you'll need to apply force on your tooth using the thumb, till it budges and moves to its desired position.
Surely, this caveman method isn't something that's very convenient (plus, the force may just be enough for you to end up with tooth movement to an extent that you do an inadvertent tooth extraction! Surely, that can't be a prettier sight than misaligned teeth.)
Hence, when it comes to dental health, and especially orthodontic treatment, it is best to visit a dentist and leave your pearly whites in the hands of experts.
