Far Infrared Sauna Therapy

Aarti R
Far infrared sauna heaters are becoming popular. This is an account of the numerous benefits of the infrared sauna therapy over the traditional steam sauna therapy.
Heating the body to an appropriate temperature, for an adequate duration, helps you stay healthy. Sauna therapy serves this purpose of heating the body. Traditional steam sauna uses heated rocks, and water poured on these rocks produces steam. This sauna needs approximately an hour to heat up, and then a further 20 minutes to heat the body. It heats up to 180-190 degree Fahrenheit, which can be uncomfortable.
The far infrared sauna therapy is preferred over the traditional steam sauna therapy, as it produces a temperature high enough to produce sweat. Additionally, you are also relatively comfortable, as the temperature is 100-130 degree Fahrenheit, quite less than that in a steam sauna. Moreover, this sauna takes only 15-20 minutes to heat up, and can be installed in a very small space as compared to the steam sauna.

Far Infrared Sauna

This sauna uses a ceramic element to emit far infrared rays. These rays belong to the light spectrum, and are not visible to the human eye. They penetrate into the skin and enter the bloodstream to detoxify the body. They are more effective than steam. Sunlight also contains far infrared rays, but they are not enough to render any benefits to the body.
The infrared sauna produces heat instantly, and is cost-effective. It is easy to install, and does not require extra plumbing as water supply is not required. It is available in wood as well as ceramic.
Its varieties are given below:
  • Infrared Lamp
  • Far infrared dome
  • Far infrared mats
  • Portable far infrared sauna
  • Hand-held infrared LED therapy device
These heaters require minimal maintenance and are also safer compared to the steam sauna.

Far Infrared Healing

Far infrared therapy has a number of health benefits that can be listed as follows:
  • This sauna penetrates deep inside the skin and dilates the blood vessels to detoxify them. This therapy can be used before taking a body massage for better relaxation.
  • The sauna helps increase blood circulation, which helps in acne treatment.
  • It also helps lose weight by increasing the metabolic process of the endocrine glands.
  • The energy levels in the human body are elevated due to the infrared therapy, as it increases the blood circulation in the body, which further increases the heart rate. It helps to maintain cardiovascular health.
  • Infrared therapy proves to be beneficial for people who have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis, high cholesterol, chronic infections, and anxiety.
  • It helps to build a strong immune system by increasing the production of T-cells, leukocytes, and white blood cells. Viruses and carcinogenic cells tolerate heat poorly. This therapy helps decrease infections, and to some extent, even combat cancer.
Thus, far infrared sauna is a good choice for relaxation and rejuvenation.
