Babies require sleep for the larger part of the day, so it's very necessary that you get good mattresses for them.
While looking for a mattress, it's very important to know which material is it made of and where it was made. Your kid will lay his/her head on whichever mattress you choose for years to come. It doesn't matter if you choose a memory foam, latex, or an innerspring mattress, make sure that the manufacturer is well-known.
People all over the world generally prefer American mattresses; the simple reason being Americans have stricter guidelines. This doesn't mean that other countries don't make good mattresses but if you take people's general opinion, a majority of them will prefer American brands.
Remember that mattress for kids and adults are different. There are many factors you have to take into consideration while selecting a good mattress. You just cannot select a particular brand of mattress for your little one. In such cases even your instinct doesn't work so it's always advisable that you consult someone or only shop at reputed brand stores.

Factors to Consider

Size

Choose a size that fits your kid's bed or crib appropriately. Its size should be such that if the kid wants to toss or roll over, the mattress should allow him/her to do so without any discomfort. Remember, kids need more room to move so as to have a peaceful sleep.

Comfort

Choose a mattress which is comfortable for your kid. Kids have a tendency to learn whatever you teach them. So obviously it's up to you that you provide them with something soft and comfortable for their growing bodies.
Always remember to choose the right kind of mattress with a good amount of spring. Would they like memory foam? It is not feasible to purchase it as memory foams are usually very firm.

Prefer Organic

Choose organic mattresses if you can. Kids suffering from chemical reactions and allergies should always rest on organic mattresses, as they contain ingredients which minimize the chances of allergy reactions.
Few companies have specific rules as to the type of foundation they require your mattresses to be placed on. If you ignore these rules, the warranty goes void automatically.
As mentioned earlier, avoid the use of memory foam. But if you are happy with memory foam make sure the bed you purchase has a solid foundation to support it. If you're buying a simple standard mattress then setting up a bed is a piece of cake. You just place your kid mattress on a flat spline.
