8 Activities for Body, Mind, and Spirit

Life can get hectic sometimes, however, there are different seasons in life, and some afford more time leisure and pleasure than others. Whether you need to relieve some stress from your life or you need things to help pass the time, this list of things to do can help nurture your body towards total health and overall wellness.

1. Read Often

Lifelong education is one of the best ways to open your mind to new beliefs, interests, or ideas. Taking time to read a magazine, newspaper, or biography can improve your cognitive health, but it also improves your social aptitudes and communicating with others. You will more be versed in interesting and discussion-worthy topics.

2. Meditate Regularly

If you have some time on your hands, spending a few moments meditating can improve your memory, mood, and your attention span. It can also create an inner rest that helps you sleep better or stimulates areas of creativity that were crowded out by stressors.

3. Exercise

Getting regular exercise is good for boosting your heart health, muscle tone, and improves your mood. A garden can help you have an excuse to be outside. The time spent in the soil can be quiet and calming, but yet productive and rejuvenating.

6. Start Cooking

If you start a vegetable garden, you will probably have an abundance of delicious crunchy foods to add to your diet. If you aren’t sure what to do with your grown veggies, take time to learn how to cook. There are lots of YouTube channels that help you become more acquainted with your kitchen, and this is both a healthy and enjoyable way to pass the time.

7. Start Dancing

Whether you like to tango or you prefer to get down with some hip hop, throwing a personal dance party on the back patio or having your friends over for a night of karaoke and breaking-it-down can be a great way to relieve boredom. The comfortable evening weather in Florida makes it easy to keep rocking on into the night and is a great way to burn calories.

8. Be a Volunteer

Volunteering at a local shelter, food pantry, or school program is a great way to get you out of the house and keep busy. Spending extra time that you have helping others is also wonderful way to do some good in the world. Looking at the needs and challenges of others can get your mind off your own.
